Highest Point Views & Historic Town - Amber Cove and Taino Bay
Travel to highest point on the entire north coast of the Dominican Republic - the summit of Mount Isabela de Torres! Relax during the slow, mountain ascent through the countryside and small villages. Once at the summit, delight in the spectacular views and refreshing climate at nearly 3000-feet. See the Christ Statue, enjoy a guided tour of the lovely botanical gardens and have excellent photo opportunities before re-boarding for the scenic descent. You will then make your way to Puerto Plata’s historic district featuring Umbrella Street, the grounds of Fort San Felipe, Paseo de Dona Blance (Pink Street) and Parque Independencia (Central Park). You will have the opportunity to enter the cathedral in Central Park before enjoying a bit of free-time to take photos or step into a shop. Bottled water is provided and our signature rum punch is served throughout.
Itinerary
Your tour Host will lead you to the Christ Statue and along the botanical garden paths as well as assist with photos.
60 minYou will explore the grounds of Fort San Felipe and discover Puerto Plata's pirate past as well as learn of Puerto Plata's special relationship with Queen Victoria.
15 minYou will enjoy a stroll along Umbrella Street where you can step into a shop or have a cup of Dominican Coffee or nibble on organic chocolate from the Dominican Chocolatier (available for purchase).
15 minDelight in this bright pink street and the wonderful photo opportunity it presents. Your Host will explain a bit about Dona Blanca.
5 minWhile at Parque Independencia (Independence Park), your Host will provide interesting information regarding the Dominican Republic's declaration of Independence, Puerto Plata's greatest hero, Gregorio Luperon, the restoration period and the Victorian Era. You will visit the cathedral and have a bit of free-time for photos or to step into a shop.
